ERP 2.0 OBU Installation FAQ

Can Malaysian-registered vehicles install the ERP 2.0 OBU?

Yes. From 1 April 2026, foreign-registered vehicles including Malaysian cars and motorcycles can install the OBU at authorized workshops in Singapore.

Is the OBU installation mandatory for Malaysian vehicles?

From 1 January 2027, all vehicles entering Singapore need an OBU. Without one, you will pay a flat-rate ERP charge every day you are on Singapore roads (S$3 for motorcycles, S$10 for cars).

How much does it cost?

Motorcycle: S$262.25 all-inclusive. Car: S$420.30 all-inclusive. This covers the OBU device, professional installation, and 9% GST.

How long does the installation take?

30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the vehicle type. Motorcycles are usually faster.

Do I need to book an appointment?

We recommend it. WhatsApp us at +65 9789 8985 to book your slot, or fill in the form on our homepage. Walk-ins are accepted when bays are free.

What should I bring?

Your vehicle, vehicle registration card, and payment method (cash or card).

Where is the workshop?

10 Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2A, #03-18, Singapore 568047 (AMK Autopoint).

Can I just pay the daily flat-rate instead of installing?

Yes, but it adds up fast. A motorcycle paying S$3/day for 20 days per month spends S$60/month — S$720 a year. The one-time installation cost of S$262.25 pays for itself in under 5 months. For cars at S$10/day, it's even worse: S$2,400/year.

What is the subsidized OBU rate?

Until 31 December 2026, the OBU device costs S$158.70 (including GST) for foreign vehicles. After that, the price may increase.

What vehicles are supported?

Most car and motorcycle models are supported. If you have an unusual vehicle, WhatsApp us to check compatibility.

Do I need an External Battery Device (EBD)?

Some vehicles need an EBD to power the OBU. The technician will check during installation. If needed, it costs an additional S$196.20.

Can I install the OBU in Malaysia?

No. The OBU can only be installed in Singapore by LTA-authorized workshops and technicians.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash and card payments are accepted at the workshop.

Is this an LTA-authorized workshop?

Yes. Our workshop is an authorized OBU installation workshop approved by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore.

What happens after installation?

Your OBU is activated and linked to your vehicle. When ERP 2.0 goes live on 1 January 2027, tolls will be charged automatically via the OBU.

Are VEP fees also changing?

Yes. From 1 January 2027, VEP fees increase: cars go from S$35 to S$50 per entry, and motorcycles from S$4 to S$7 per entry.
